How to export Instagram data

insta-diff needs a file containing your account's followers & following. Instagram provides it via the official “Download your information” feature. Follow the steps below — about 5 minutes, plus waiting for Instagram to prepare the file.

What to pick (summary)

These three settings matter — leave the rest at default.

Category: Check only “Followers and following” (don't pick photos/messages/etc).
Date range: “All time”.
Format: JSON (recommended). HTML also works.

Using the phone app

The most common way. Menu names may differ slightly by app version.

Open Settings
From your profile, tap the menu icon (☰) at the top right, then Settings and activity (Pengaturan dan aktivitas).
Go to Download your information
Tap Accounts Center (Pusat Akun) at the top → Your information and permissions (Informasimu dan izin) → Download your information (Unduh informasimu). Tip: you can also type “download” in the settings search box.
Start the download request
Tap Download or transfer information (Unduh atau transfer informasi), choose your Instagram account, then pick Some of your information (Sebagian informasimu).
Check only Followers and following
Under the Connections (Koneksi) category, check Followers and following (Pengikut dan mengikuti) only. Don't check anything else so the file stays small and fast. Then Next.
Choose destination: download to device
Pick Download to device (Unduh ke perangkat).
Set date range, format, then create files
Set Date range (Rentang tanggal) to All time, Format (Format) to JSON, then tap Create files (Buat file).
Wait for Instagram to prepare the file
Instagram processes the request and notifies you by notification/email when ready — usually a few minutes, sometimes hours for large accounts.
Download the .zip file
Reopen Download your information (Unduh informasimu), and once the status is ready, tap Download (you'll need your password). You'll get a single .zip file.

Using a browser (computer)

An alternative if you prefer a laptop.

Open Accounts Center
Visit accountscenter.instagram.com (log in if asked), then choose Download your information.
Pick the same data & settings
Follow the same steps as the app: Some of your information → check Followers and following → Download to device → All time → JSON → Create files.
Download when ready
Wait for the notification/email, then download the .zip file from the same page.

Once the file is ready

Open the insta-diff home page and drag the .zip file (or the .json file inside it) onto the upload area. You don't need to extract the zip yourself.

The file is processed entirely in your browser — never uploaded to any server. You can delete data stored in your browser anytime via the button at the bottom of the page.
